4 Ways to Step-Up Your Christmas Wrapping

December 22, 2017

One of my favorite holiday traditions is figuring out how I’m going to wrap and decorate presents.  I love coming up with different ideas every year to keep it interesting.  Plus, no one can hate a nicely wrapped gift!  If you’re stuck on how to wrap up all those Christmas presents this weekend, here’s a quick little guide on how you can step-up your wrapping this year.

1. Decorate your wrapping paper!

Use plain colored wrapping or kraft paper and acrylic paint to decorate.  You can also use stamps or dry paint brushes to create some cool effects.  For my gifts this year, I mixed gold metallic paint with a tiny bit of water and splattered the wrapping paper.

2. Tie it up!

I think presents always look cuter with something tied around them.  I used ribbon on all of my gifts, but you can get creative!  Twine looks super cute wrapped around if you’re going for a more minimalist/Scandinavian look.

3. Give it a little something extra!

I’ve never been good at tying extravagant bows, so I compensate by adding a little extra decoration tied to the gift.  I personally love buying mini ornaments and tying them to the gift to have that extra “wow” factor when you see it.  You can also go foraging and use spray painted twigs, leaves and assorted foliage to attach to it as well.

4. Cute gift tags!

I just discovered last year that there’s a lot of free printable gift tags online that fit the aesthetic I was trying to go for.  A quick google search will find you a ton of blogs with downloadable templates.  I get them printed at a print shop on cardstock so they’re a little more durable.  The ones on my presents this year were from here.

I hope that helps get you inspired wrapping your Christmas presents this year (or maybe next!).  Also, I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas celebrating with all your loved ones!

All the best,
