Anyone who’s close to me knows I loathe wearing jeans. I love the look of jeans and sweater but I literally dread the whole process of trying to find a pair that fits. My body shape is somewhere in-between a pear/hourglass figure, along with being petite. This makes it challenging finding a pair that fit properly – short inseam, thicker calves/thighs, and a wide hip-to-waist ratio.
I can remember so many frustrating trips to the mall where I spent hours, upon hours trying to find the perfect pair of jeans and leaving discouraged and empty handed! For the past few years, I’ve given up on all jeans and have been committing the cardinal fashion sin of wearing leggings as pants (the horror!).
Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time on Instagram/Pinterest for my fall fashion inspiration and I kept seeing so many outfits I love with light wash distressed jeans. So against my better judgment, I decided to venture to the mall to find the perfect pair of jeans.
Lo-and-behold, the first pair I tried on fit like a dream! They were basically the light distressed wash I was looking for, along with being comfortable and stretchy. They were also ridiculously cheap at only $39.99 for the pair!
What Works for Me
The jeans I find that work best with my body type are ones that are high waisted (eliminates the dreaded “jean gap” from the hip to waist ratio), stretchy (so I can more food without having to unbutton my pants), and have either a shorter inseam or have a bottom a can cuff.
I find when I wear jeans, I like to pair them with some sort of heeled bootie to give me that extra length. It makes your legs instantly look longer and more muscular (with zero effort!). I also wore a loose-knit sweater that I could half-tuck into the jeans for a more casual look. I’m still trying to find a way of perfecting the half-tuck, so if you have any tips, please pass them along!
